What Is Save Your Cat?

Save Your Cat is a free-to-play Roblox incremental simulator created by thesamazing_man. It launched in June 2026 and has since attracted millions of visits thanks to its simple but addictive core loop: your Speed increases by one point every second you are in the game. The higher your Speed, the faster you earn other resources, unlock upgrades, and push back against Baron Smog’s industrial advance.

The game supports up to 30 players per server and includes online multiplayer features. You do not need Robux to enjoy the core experience — everything essential is accessible for free.

The Objective

Baron Smog is trying to industrialize the forest. Your job is to stop him by building up your Speed, collecting Seeds and Buttons, using Rebirth to reset with permanent multipliers, and ultimately rescuing the cat. The exact steps to victory are covered in the How to Beat Baron Smog guide.

The Interface

When you first join a server you will see the main game view. The left panel shows your current Speed, Seeds, and Buttons. The top bar shows your level, session time, and any active multipliers. The right side displays the upgrade shop where you spend Seeds and Buttons to improve your stats.

Take a moment to familiarise yourself with these three areas. The left panel is your status, the right panel is your shop, and the centre of the screen is where gameplay happens.

Your First Speed Increases

The game begins the moment you join. Your Speed counter starts at zero and increments by one every second. Watch it climb — this number is the key to everything. Higher Speed means you accumulate Seeds and Buttons faster, unlock new upgrade tiers sooner, and push deeper into the game’s progression systems.

Earning Your First Resources

Seeds and Buttons are the two secondary currencies in Save Your Cat. They are earned passively based on your current Speed. The formula is straightforward: the higher your Speed, the more Seeds and Buttons arrive per minute. Spend them wisely in the upgrade shop — prioritising Speed upgrades early gives you the best long-term return on investment.

The Upgrade Shop

The upgrade shop is where you spend Seeds and Buttons to improve your stats. The most important early purchase is any upgrade that raises your Speed multiplier. Even a small multiplier has an enormous impact over time because it compounds on top of your base Speed gain of one point per second.

Other upgrades worth considering early include seed generation rate and button drop rate. Do not spread your resources too thin — focus on Speed first, then branch out once your base Speed is above 500.

Meeting Other Players

Save Your Cat is a multiplayer experience. You will see other players’ bases in the shared world, and some upgrades have a social component. Playing with friends is not required but can help — shared multipliers and coordinated upgrades allow you to progress faster than going solo.

What to Do in Your First Session

Do not overthink your first session. Join a server, watch your Speed climb, collect your first Seeds and Buttons, and buy one or two Speed upgrades. By the end of your first session you should understand the core loop and know what to focus on next. From there, explore the How to Get Speed guide to accelerate your progress, or jump to any other guide that matches your goal.

FAQ

Do I need to be online to progress? Yes. Save Your Cat is an online-only Roblox experience. Your Speed and resources are tied to your session. Closing the game resets your session progress, though permanent upgrades from Rebirth carry over.

Is there a tutorial? The game teaches through doing — there is no text-heavy tutorial. Your first minutes of watching the Speed counter rise and spending your first resources are the tutorial.

Can I play with friends? Yes. The game supports up to 30 players per server. Coordinate with friends to share upgrade strategies and earn multiplayer bonuses.

What happens if Baron Smog wins? Baron Smog is the narrative antagonist. The game does not end in failure — instead, you progress toward confronting him by building up your Speed and resources. See the How to Beat Baron Smog guide for the full strategy.

Is there a best starting upgrade? Yes — prioritise Speed multipliers in the upgrade shop. Every other resource generation rate improves as a result of higher Speed, making it the most efficient first investment.
