Controls Overview

Save Your Cat uses a standard Roblox control scheme with a few game-specific additions for the restoration and upgrade systems. This guide covers every control on both desktop and mobile so you can navigate the game efficiently from your very first session.

Desktop Controls

WASD — Movement. W moves forward, S moves backward, A moves left, and D moves right. Diagonal movement is supported by combining keys.

Spacebar — Jump. Used primarily for navigating terrain obstacles and reaching elevated restoration anchors.

E — Interact. This is the most-used key in the game. Press E to interact with upgrade shop terminals, restoration anchors, factory nodes during the Baron Smog encounter, and NPC non-player characters in the village area.

Shift — Sprint. Holding Shift increases your movement speed by 50%. Useful for crossing large zones quickly or outpacing slow-moving factory obstacles.

Tab — Toggle Map. Opens the full-screen map view showing all zones, their current health status, restoration anchor locations, and Baron Smog’s factory zone.

I — Open Inventory. Displays your current Seeds, Buttons, active multipliers, and any cosmetic items you have equipped.

U — Open Upgrade Shop. Directly opens the upgrade shop panel without needing to navigate to a terminal.

M — Toggle Music and Sound. Quickly mute or unmute the game’s audio.

Escape — Open Pause Menu. Access settings, leave the server, or return to the main menu.

Mouse Controls

Left Click — Select and confirm in menus. Also used to target factory obstacles during the Baron Smog encounter.

Right Click — Context action. In the upgrade shop, right-clicking an upgrade shows its detailed description and upgrade path. On the map, right-clicking a zone shows its health and bonus information.

Scroll Wheel — Zoom in and out on the map view and in the upgrade shop to see the full upgrade tree more clearly.

Mobile Touch Controls

Virtual Joystick — The left side of the screen shows a virtual joystick for movement. Drag from the centre to move in any direction.

Jump Button — A circular button on the right side of the screen triggers jump. Positioned for easy thumb access during movement.

Interact Button — A persistent button labelled E appears when you are within range of an interactable object. Tap it to interact with upgrade terminals, restoration anchors, and factory nodes.

Menu Buttons — The top-right corner of the mobile interface has quick-access buttons for the Map (Tab), Inventory (I), and Shop (U). These function identically to their keyboard equivalents.

Swipe Gestures — Swipe left or right on the upgrade shop panel to browse upgrade categories. Swipe up or down in the inventory to scroll through items.

Controller Support

Save Your Cat supports Xbox and PlayStation controllers connected to your device. The left stick controls movement, the right stick controls camera or pointer aim, A or X is interact, B or Circle is cancel or back, and the start or options button opens the pause menu.

Useful Keyboard Shortcuts

Pressing U then I in quick succession opens both the shop and inventory simultaneously, which is useful when you are evaluating multiple upgrade options before spending a large amount of Seeds.

Holding Shift while pressing E on an upgrade terminal skips the confirmation dialog and purchases the first available tier of the highlighted upgrade. This is a minor time-saver for repetitive upgrade purchases.

In the upgrade shop, pressing a number key 1 through 5 selects the corresponding upgrade category directly without needing to navigate with the mouse.

The game allows remapping of the Sprint and Jump keys in the settings menu. Players who prioritise restoration work may want to move Sprint from Shift to a more accessible key since restoration requires quick movement between anchors. Players focused on encounter combat may prefer keeping Sprint on Shift for maximum responsiveness.
